A thought for the day
"The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less. We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've conquered outer space, but not inner space. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've split the atom, but not our prejudices. We have higher incomes, but lower morals. We've become long on quantity, but short on quality. These are the times of tall men, and short character; steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition. These are the days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes. It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom; a time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you make a difference, or to just hit delete... It's your choice."

Back from hiking
Ever have one of those days where you are sitting in the office, but you know that you are completely ineffectual? I was just staring at the monitor, unable to think. So I went home, threw on my hiking boots, and headed for a trail. Definitely cleared my mind. I'm glad I did it.
By the way, there are still many problems with my WWW site, so if you notice inconsistent styles, broken links, or the fact that my Archives section is completely whacked, you've been warned. I'll clean them up as soon as I can, but I've got some code in my noggin that I need to work on first!
Blogging is bad for your health
I'm exhausted this morning, and I'm going to blame blogging. Too much content, not enough time. I really need to sleep rather than read random people's comments about the universe.
Check out this site. A gun that fires 1,000,000 rounds per minute! Super cool video!

This page is now a blog
I changed my root page so it is now "powered by Blogger". I really wanted to be able to enter quick thoughts without having to edit the HTML, so off it go. Blogger seems pretty limited, but hey, it's free and it works for simple stuff!
